American families could save almost $1,300 every year on their energy bills by 2030 if the government invests in the energy efficiency of our buildings today, according to a new report by Environment America. Saving energy in our buildings would also help America’s fight against global warming by reducing projected greenhouse gas emissions from buildings by 37 percent.

From laundromats and baseball stadiums, to homes and cars, generating energy from the sun is already enhancing energy security and reducing pollution in America. A new Environment America report outlines a vision for using the sun to meet 10 percent of the United States’ energy needs by 2030.
Industrial facilities dumped 232 million pounds of toxic chemicals into America’s waterways, according to a report released today by Environment America: Wasting Our Waterways: Industrial Toxic Pollution and the Unfulfilled Promise of the Clean Water Act. The report also finds that toxic chemicals were discharged in 1,900 waterways across all 50 states.
